Ramon Ruiz

 

Born in Granada, Spain    

Ramon Ruiz is UK's leading Flamenco guitarist, Performer, Composer, regestered Flamenco guitar teacher at the London College of Music, Morley College and Richmond Music Trust.

Qualifications / career

-

LTCL Diploma in Classical guitar recital and currently completing a BA (Hons) in Music Education at the Metropolitan University, London.

Ramon trained and studied the art of Flamenco in Granada and Seville where he performed in Spain's leading flamenco Tablao “Los Gallosaccompanying award winning dancers such as Juana Amaya,  Isabel Bayon, Iniesta Cortes and Loli Flores. He also played in flamenco festivals throughout Andalucia including a performance in the Alcazares (Seville) with "El MImbre",brother of Matilde Coral.

Performed in over 2000 venues across europe including:

-  
- Private performance for Murray Perahia, worlds leading classical pianist (2007)
- Royal Albert Hall (2005) with the Alma Flamenco dance company in a line-up of artists including Diego el Cigala and Juaquin Grillo.
- Royal variety show (2008)
- Zorro the Musical, Garrick theatre, london West End 2008.            
- Presently produced two Albums and is currently signed up with “Naim Audio” record label.

Current projects

   
- Planning autumn performances with the sitar player Aniusca Ravishankar and arranging materials for performances with violinist Sebastian See-Schierenberg. Composing for Alcazaba, a fusion of Flamenco group with Indian and Arab influences.

Hobbies/interests

Keen sportsman: tennis, karate (black-belt), rugby (Italian National junior team in 1986).  Also speaks four languages fluently: Spanish ,English Italian and French. Interested incomputing and travel.  Plays other musical instruments including piano and enjoys singing and comedy and Acting.
